Family Bible Collection

Bibles donated to the Nabb Center, whether singly or as part of a larger collection, have been integrated into this collection. A variety of print editions spanning from 18th Century to 20th century are represented, as well as various religious denominations and types of Bibles. Most of the Bibles contain hand-written notations of family history – including births, deaths, marriages and baptisms-- for several surnames beyond the title. Some may contain additional clippings or other items and some Bibles do not contain any family information. Family Bibles held by the Nabb Center and not included in this collection are also referred to in the inventory. A partial transcription of the family history pages is available upon request (full transcription will be made available online soon).

James Brown Family Photograph Collection

This collection contains various photocopies and photograph negatives of the James Brown family. It includes all photocopied black and white photographs, many dating back to the late 19th or early 20th century. It also contains the negative film strips and initial produced photographs covered in protective seals. Also included is a newspaper photograph of artist Arnold Roberts detailing the Dames Quarter area in which the Brown family lived. The photographs were produced by Paul Butler, and the Times Newspaper photo was taken by Bill Duck.

Paul Butler collection

Paul Butler collection consists of photocopies of historical documents from Wicomico and Worcester Counties, Maryland, accumulated by Paul Butler. It contains land deeds and manumission deeds documenting African American history from 1803-1928. It includes a copy of the book, Commanders of the Dining Room, with a biographical sketch of L.D. Houston, a native of Salisbury, Maryland, and the headwaiter of the Peninsula Hotel in Seabright, New Jersey, in 1905. The collection also contains court dockets, voting records and ledgers documenting legal and economic history from 1694-1910. It includes a ledger from a school in Lindseyville (Klej Grange) Maryland from 1850-1852, and a ledger from a store in Tyaskin, Maryland from 1898-1901.

Thomas Price collection

The Thomas Price collection consists of military and genealogical records accumulated by Thomas Price and dating from 1865 - 2001. It contains recordings and transcripts of interviews with three veterans of the First World War from Salisbury, Md. and records of the 115th Infantry Regiment of the Maryland Army National Guard. It also includes interviews, records, correspondence, photographs, publications and ephemera offering insight into military service during the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. The collection also contains photographs of Deal Island, Md. from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It also includes photographs, publications, and ephemera offering insight into civic and religious life on the Delmarva Peninsula.
